Basmati Software (LLC) was originally founded in 1999 as a sole-proprietorship by a teacher in Arlington, WA.
Initially, the company intended to sell scheduling and grade-posting software
to neighboring school districts. After realizing the potential for student improvement, they decided to release
Basmati under open-source licensing agreements to help promote student learning. By word-of-mouth alone, Basmati
is now used throughout the country from Alaska to Florida. We are continually creating new software and
refining existing software. We also provide web-hosting services for many of our titles.
Basmati Software donates almost all of our profits (after paying for our expenses and salaries) to the following
causes: Student Scholarships, Teacher Technology Grants, and the Open-Source Software Initiative. If you use our
donation-based hosting services, you'll be given the opportunity to direct how your donation benefits others.
